Standalones
The murky world of the confidential informant is a risky way to live a life. Taking it to extremes only means one thing. Mortal danger...
When tragedy strikes, for Elsie there’s only one thing left to do. Make sure those responsible pay for what they did. She has one advantage… as a rough sleeper she’s already under the radar.
She’s not a typical rough sleeper. For her it’s a bitter choice, not a necessity. Twenty-one years old, intelligent and smart, she could have been anything she wanted, if not for one fateful episode a few short years ago, which instantly ended every dream she ever had. Betrayed and demoralised, she finally quit what was once a happy home and joined the sleeper community in Norwich, soon discovering she had more in common with people who accepted her for who she was, than she did with those she left behind.
She’s formed a strong bond with a teenage boy, who she tries to look out for… even though he’s only two years younger. It’s not easy, especially of late… she worries he’s sinking into a quicksand he’ll never get out of, but he refuses to even talk about it.
Then, the day arrives that changes her life. An unfortunate set of circumstances leads to Elsie coming face-to-face with someone who makes an unexpected and dramatic impact. A great big, impossible to ignore impact. Which starts with getting arrested for indecent exposure...
Can something be so beautiful, you can’t be sure it’s real?
At the age of twenty-five, Frankie MacFarlane is making a success of life, running the pub she owns with her brother Jake. But it hasn’t come easily. After an unfortunate incident when she was twelve, every one of her teenage years was spent institutionalized.
Frankie lives with paranoid schizophrenia. Having a purpose in life has helped, and most days are good days. But the symptoms of her illness never quite go away, and Frankie’s perception of things can sometimes be different to those of the people around her.
One day, at the height of the tourist season in Norfolk, something happens to challenge that perception. A mysterious girl starts visiting the pub, and for a reason she can’t explain, Frankie is drawn to her. The need to discover who she is and why she is there turns quickly into an obsession.
In Frankie’s world, it’s not that simple. Now and again she sees people who aren’t really there. Desperate to know for sure, Frankie embarks on what is for her a terrifying journey into the unknown… unaware the truth lurking around the corner is far more horrifying than even she could have imagined.
If you had the chance to change everything, would you take it? Even if it meant living through a tragedy a second time?
This is our Titanic Story
As those of you who read us will suspect, our story is not like any other Titanic tale! And it’s a full-on, smack you in the face kind of tear-jerker. We make no apologies for that, although when we started writing it, that wasn't the main objective. It turned into an emotional roller-coaster without us realising!
"Time is the most indefinable yet paradoxical of things; the past is gone, the future is not come, and the present becomes the past even while we attempt to define it, and, like the flash of lightning, at once exists and expires."
~ Charles Caleb Colton ~
Are you too old to believe in elves? Ellie White thought she was...
Eleanor Parkin-White takes her son and daughter to an elves and pixies party. Sticking around a while, she watches the children playing. Then she sees someone she once new.
The blood freezes in her veins. It isn’t him, but it might as well be. Identical in every way, she can’t believe what she’s seeing. How could it be?
And why now, after so long?
Unable to look away, as she watches him playing, the memories come flooding back. Terrifying recollections of a time in her life she'd shut away, because it was just too awful to remember.
Eleanor is now the proud mum of two wonderful children… a confident, beautiful woman in total control of her life. But it hadn't always been that way.
Once upon a time it was all very, very different....
They say you shouldn’t judge a person by the size of their super-yacht. It’s difficult not to though, right? If someone owns in excess of fifty metres it’s hard persuading yourself to avoid getting to know them. I’m sure you’ve all been there.
Talking of being there, right now I’m in the perfect place for super-yacht spotting. Monte Carlo, a week before the Monaco grand prix… the Mecca of the rich and famous. Let’s face it, the real motorsport fans don’t have a hope in hell of getting to this one. Even if they could afford the out-of-reach ticket prices, the place is already rammed to the rafters with those who don’t know the first thing about motor racing. It’s simply about being there, as someone once famously said.
I’ll confess I’m not a committed fan. Not of the cars anyway. I’m here because someone suggested I should be, to engineer an accidental meeting with a beautiful Italian socialite. That someone seemed to think my devastating good looks and impeccable pedigree might get me somewhere. They most likely will.
I know of her. We’ve never actually met. She’s disgracefully rich, so I’m just hoping her floating palace isn’t bigger than mine, or I might be playing defence from the off. That wouldn’t do at all.
Oh, I’m Trey by the way. Pleased to meet you…
Murder was never this crazy!
Meet RC and Fi, two interplanetary homicide detectives whose patch is a lot bigger than any other police department’s. Mismatched in every way possible, their relationship is as complicated as the cases they solve.
It all started the day Fi was introduced to her new partner. A strange girl who appeared to be living in a past century, the straight-up Fi wasn’t at all impressed. Sadly for them both, there wasn’t time to argue. A new case needed solving. On a space station orbiting Mars.
Within hours of their arrival it becomes clear there’s a lot more to the situation than they were told. Especially when they come across a dangerous plant with a mind of its own… that really doesn’t like them one bit!
A romantic comedy / murder mystery with a scary difference!
If you were to discover nothing was how it seemed, what would you do?
When radio DJ Annie Anderson moves back to her roots in deepest, darkest Norfolk, new things come into her life... like a ghostly hand under her bed, and the discovery her best friend has been hiding a massive secret for twelve years.
As strange and scary things start happening to Annie, her friend and producer, brash bottle-blonde Essex-girl Sally Brown, begins to realise her worst fears are becoming reality, and lives are in grave danger. Even if she can find the doorway back to the hell, it may be too late.
When two children come into Annie's life who haven't yet been born, she finds herself on a perilous journey against time, with a very different best friend, two young children who are growing older far too quickly, a cat called Rosie, and a frail elderly pensioner who turns out to be anything but.
And someone close behind who will stop at nothing to ensure they won’t reach their destination.
Something incredible happened last night. Something so mind-blowing, maybe writing it down will help understand it better. Understand me better. I’m using my personal log, so no one can see it. This is not for anyone else’s eyes.
It’s hard enough for me to read.
Above my head, a gentle tropical breeze delicately caresses the palm-leaf roof of our island room. A few minutes ago, a warm early morning sun rose above the sea, dispelling the last remnants of the night I shall never forget.
The night someone stole my soul.
As I write, I begin to wonder who I am. I thought I knew, until a few hours ago. Now, I am a stranger to myself. I do not know how to feel. What I should feel. Guilt, remorse? Ecstasy, intensity… love?
I feel all of those things. But they are so messed up, I cannot separate one from the other.
We are prisoners here, and yet in a strange way, I have never felt so free. One more feeling I cannot comprehend.
My angel stole my soul. Last night, in a few moments of total, overwhelming passion, she took it from me.
She will own it forever.
And I will never be the same woman again.
